Outreach & Engagement
Community Engagement
Effective and meaningful community engagement is an important component of the Integrated Planning process, and JCW takes pride in its transparent decision-making and community engagement approach.
This website is one of the key tools developed to help customers learn about the Integrated Plan. The website provides users with educational information, project updates, and an interactive, geospatial mapping application that identifies project locations and additional information.
Another initiative undertaken by JCW was its recent online community engagement survey, which sought input on the importance of JCW’s mission statement objectives. The survey was active from March to June of 2023 and garnered almost 3,400 responses.
The 2023 community outreach survey confirmed that JCW’s customers and the residents of Johnson County largely agree with its mission and priorities. Notably, more than 90 percent of survey respondents indicated that customer service and environmental protection are important or very important to them.

Stakeholder Engagement
As part of the Phase 2 Integrated Plan development, JCW engaged stakeholders, including city administrators and public works officials, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), and the EPA. These interactions resulted in additional, high-level input that validated JCW’s priorities and its efforts to protect the environment, provide excellent service to its customers, and enhance local communities.
