The Belinder Pump Station facility is located at 5700 Belinder Road, at the intersection of State Park Road and Belinder Road, and both the Kansas City and Mission Hills Country Clubs.
This project will replace and improve aging equipment at the facility. Because the facility was constructed in the late 1940’s, these improvements will require building expansion to house new equipment and meet current building codes. Additional regulatory requirements require additional chemical addition to protect the safety of Brush Creek.

The Blue River Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) located near 151st Street and Kenneth Road (State Line) treats the sanitary sewer flow generated by communities in the Blue River basin in Johnson County. JCW is increasing wet weather pumping and disinfection capacity at the facility to accommodate greater flows as these communities continue to grow. Improvements include pumping, solids, piping, odor control, and other facility improvements.

Johnson County Wastewater is working to increase the capacity of the sanitary sewer system in the general area of 103rd Street and Metcalf Avenue. Referred to as the Metcalf and 103rd Interceptor Relocation and Capacity Improvements, this project addresses approximately 3,000 linear feet of 21-inch through 30-inch diameter existing sanitary sewer interceptor in Overland Park, Kansas, near Pinehurst Park and the Indian Creek Shopping Center that requires additional capacity and protection from stream bank erosion.
PROJECT COMPLETED FALL 2024

JCW is constructing an underground wet weather storage facility that will be used to store wet weather flows during major storms. This project will provide capacity for continued growth in the Mill Creek Service Area and reduce the need for more costly downstream improvements.
Estimated construction completion, Summer 2025.
Visit The Mill Creek Wet Weather Storage project page for more information.
Nelson Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements Project
The Nelson Complex Wastewater Treatment Facility is the oldest treatment plant in Johnson County and its service area is comprised of two main tributary basins, Turkey Creek (SMTC) and Mission Main (MTM1). Combining the treatment facilities has improved service and streamlined operation and maintenance activities.
Due to the age and complexities of the facility and associated pumping and collection systems, extensive upgrades are needed to modernize the Nelson facility and bring it into compliance with new regulations.

The facility is now under construction. For more information on the project visit: JCWNelson.com
The purpose of the State Line Pump Stations and Forcemain project is to capture flows from the Leawood Service Area that currently drain across the State Line into the Kansas City, Missouri (KCMO) collection system and send that flow to JCW’s newly completed Tomahawk Wastewater Treatment Facility.
Tomahawk Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility Expansion
The facility expansion was completed spring of 2022 to provide long-term treatment needs and maintain high levels of service to JCW customers.
The Tomahawk Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility was originally constructed in 1955. Since that time, the facility has been expanded to treat wastewater flows from parts of Leawood, Overland Park, Olathe and Prairie Village, Kansas. Continued population growth in these areas over time eventually exceeded treatment capacity triggering the need for the facility's expansion.
